Intro

My Writing Paper Lab

Make choices and figure out what works best for your handwriting.

Your writing is how you share your information, your ideas, your thoughts, your opinions and your feelings. This lab helps you find the paper that makes that easier.

Look at the choices, create your own paper, print it, write on it, use it, check your work, and decide what helps you. You are the one who writes on it, so your choice counts.

Dashboard

Start with a reference sample. Use plain blank paper or the student's usual paper before choosing new paper supports.

Things that seem to help me

What do I do?

Complete results for at least 3 students. For each student:

  1. 1Blank Paper Writing Check
  2. 2Create handwriting paper in the Design Lab
  3. 3At least 2 Writing Checks using your custom papers
  4. 4Download the Student Results PDF
What information is collected?

The Student Results PDF holds, for each Writing Check:

  • The photograph of the writing
  • The date, the time started and finished, and how long the writing took
  • What the child said about how the paper worked for them
  • The paper settings used, so the paper can be made again exactly
  • Your own notes, and the typed words if you added them

No names and no identifying details are collected. Everything stays on your device until you send it.

How do I get the next version?

Send your results either way below. They are reviewed, and access to the next version follows. You are welcome to send comments, ideas and materials of your own with them.

When You're Finished

There are two ways to send what you have. Either is fine.

1
Use the spreadsheet

Download the spreadsheet for each student, check it over and add anything missing, then send it with your Student Results PDFs.

  1. Download the spreadsheet and the Student Results PDF for each student, above.
  2. Complete the spreadsheet.
  3. Send the data and ask for the next version.

2
Email Us Your Data

If the spreadsheet looks like too much, do not let it stop you. Email what you have and we will sort it out at our end.

Please include:

  • The Student Results PDF for each student. This one file already holds everything below, so if you have the PDFs you are done.

If you do not have the PDFs, send whatever you do have of these:

  • The photographs of the writing, one for each Writing Check
  • Which paper each check was written on: plain blank paper, or one the child designed
  • The paper settings, or the paper code, so the paper can be made again
  • The date, the time started and finished, and how long the writing took
  • What the child answered: how easy it felt to write, and whether the lines or spaces helped
  • Your own notes about what you saw
  • The words that were written, typed out, if you have them
  • The student code, grade, age and handedness, and your teacher or parent code

No names. A code such as S01 is all we need.
